Hi there, I'm looking at getting an imported European car - most likely a VW golf or similar. Looking at some of the mileage vs age of some of the cars on the listings - how sure can buyers be these days that the mileage is genuine?

Also, are there any watch outs anyone would recommend when buying a second hand imported European car from, say Japan? I realise there is a lot of 'buyer beware' in these cases, but keen to hear any advice or things to watch out for in general.

Many thanks

Hi there,
It is quite common to see low mileage cars from Japan, I would keep an eye out for a odometer certified sticker and certificate to help prove its authenticity.
I would make sure the car is not rusty underneath and doesn't have mud and snow tyres fitted which is an indication of snow/salty road potential.
Also make sure the engine and transmission have been serviced and are in good working condition as they can be an expensive fix.
