Hi, we are a family of 6 who are looking to purchase two new cars. One this year and one next year due to our current ones failing. I travel from Alexandra to Roxburgh and back each day for work ( 1 hr round trip) on a road that is windy and hilly. I am looking for a smaller car that is fuel efficient. It however can't be too small and at time I would need to fit 3 kids in the backseat and needs to be good on the hills.
The other car would be the family car. We currently have a Honda Odyssey 7 seater which is very hard on fuel. However our eldest will leave home at the end of next year so a 7 seater is no longer a necessity. We have a budget of around $10,000 for each of the cars. I would really appreciate some ideas of what would be the best deal for us. Thanks.

Hi there,
A few choices of popular hatchbacks might be Toyota Corolla 1.8ltr, Mazda Axela/3 2.0ltr would be quite economic while still having power to navigate hills.
Mazda Atenza or 6 station wagon are a good size, or Subaru Legacy.
A Honda Stream might be a smaller vehicle to the Odyssey with good boot space of the rear most seats are not used (still a 7-seater)
Or getting away from people movers and into the current favourite SUV, Mazda CX5, Kia Sportage, Mitsubishi Outlander (5-7 seats) might be attractive.
