I have paid a registered dealer a deposit on a Japanese import that is due in next month ( it has already been delayed by one month ). I have been very appreciative of a courtesy car being made available to me, as my car was written off recently after flood damage. I have changed my mind about buying this car and also because of the delay - am I entitled to receive my deposit back? I signed an agreement (sales?) but was not given a copy of it and forgot to ask - I did get a copy of the courtesy car agreement. Thank you.

The first step is to obtain the contract you sighed and read it carefully, you need to see if it states the deposit is refundable and under what circumstances, if not you need to see if the dealership has broken the contract. if they have broken the terms of the contract you can try to request a refund.

Unfortunately changing you mind is not usual a good enough excuse cancel the contract and receive a refund.

Thank you very much.
