I am considering buying a demo car that is slightly cheaper and would like to know some of the disadvantages.

Ex-Demo cars are not a bad choice you can often save quite a bit of money they would have been tested by potential buyers and also used as press vehicles, for car magazines and publication much like the vehicles featured in AA new car reviews, the key is to ensure the standard new car warranty is still available. and have a good look over the entire vehicle for minor damage that may have occurred whilst testing.
