If I run out of boot/cargo space then can I put a roof rack on a car I'm considering buying, a Toyota Corolla Hatch Levin SX 2018 car?

hello there is nothing to stop you putting a roof rack on your vehicle however it may pay to investigate the payload of this vehicle, if you are planning on carrying a lot of weight you don't want to overload the vehicle.

I'm not certain what payload means, is it the maximum weight the vehicle can carry?
In my case there will be three adults and with the wide part of the back seat down the boot/cargo area will be full (including two heavy suitcases. I will be traveling on hills if that makes any difference to the load I can have.
