Hi there, I need a new car and have up to $8000 to spend. Every two weeks or so I transport 4 adults and gear into the countryside, often on very bumpy gravel roads. Also in winter I will use it to go to ski fields. I need help choosing a reliable vehicle and I don't care what it looks like.

A Subaru would be perfect - 2007-2008 Forester or Outback AWD are a great size and has good off-road capability while still a normal vehicle presence.
