Hi there. I'm just looking at buying a 2005 Mitsubishi Grandis station wagon. Was just wondering if there would be any issues with the 4 gear atuo. Looking to drive it around town, but also hopefully up to ski fields. Is there any other good 7 seater, 4wd cars in the same price range? 7000 to 12000?

The Mitsubishi Grandis is not mentioned very often across our channels and as an import, information can be quite limited. 7-Seats and AWD may present a few challenges and might lead you into more SUV territory - which of coarse would hike the price up.
How about a Mitsubishi Outlander? These can be available as both NZ new and as a Japanese import.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback. Yes I have been looking at the outlander as well. But not sure if I can get one with reasonable kms for my price range. What about the Toyota wish 4wd models? Any know issues with those? Thanks again

I would be a little wary of those vehicles that are not made in 4wd for the mass market, the Wish is primarily FWD and an AWD may have been sold for the snowy areas of Japan. Be careful that it is not rusty underneath. As they are a bit rare, parts may be also difficult to come by.

Hi thanks. That's good advice. Yep pretty much decided if going for a 4wd, seven seater it would be the outlander, or maybe a Subaru exiga. However, If I did drop down to just a 5 seater 4wd, what cars would you recommend in the 7000 to 10000 range?

Maybe vehicles like a Subaru Forester or Outback in the Subaru family. Or if you want to get adventurous A4 Audi Quattro?
