Hello AA
Nissan X-trail 2013 NZ, 70000kms diesel, manual - $18000 (Brendan foot lower hutt)
appreciate your view on this being a suitable vehicle for towing caravan about nz for at least a year
OR
do we spend more dollars on a new vehicle (service and warranty) or near new. example do we spend closer to 28k for a newer vehicle (any make)

Hi there,
These vehicles would seem to be pretty good, and the diesel ones have a conventional transmission which should allow towing better than the CVT models.
Our specs show a maximum braked towing capacity of 1,350kg (750kg un-braked) which doesn't seem a lot.
So providing the caravan is braked and not more than this, then it should be capable. You may need to talk to a transmission specialist and look into cooling system efficiency and if an external cooler will be best fitted.
