Seeking a car for my daughter who due to illness cannot withstand vibrations while driving either from the road or vehicle. Seeking likely a used import around 5 - $ 6,000 with reliability. Various thoughts for a better ride being a longer wheel base meaning larger car or is it all in the suspension ? Any recommened vehicles to consider ?
Nissan Teana is one she has driven and thought ok.
I would suggest the most suitable make/model of car in this situation would be a Citroen C5 or older Citroen Xantia, which you will be able to find in that price range. Larger Citroens of this size have a unique type of suspension (hydropneumatic instead of conventional shocks and springs), unlike any other brand of car. This gives them a softer, more comfortable and forgiving ride, which Citroens have been renowned for. I suggest you take some for a test ride and see how much your daughter likes them. Don't look at smaller Citroens though (e.g. C3 or C4) as they have conventional suspension (although French cars are generally known for having a softer ride regardless).
