We are looking to buy a safe car and have found two close by that we like the look of; a 2005 Honda Odyssey with 72,000km or a 2009 Peugeot 308 with 98,000km. Which would you recommend a newer car with more Kms or an older car with less?

Hi there,
Often it would be better to have a more modern car with the potential for better safety technology and have higher km's, over an older car with low km's. As both have pretty good safety ratings (Used car safety ratings, ANCAP) the noticeable difference between the two is country of manufacturer. The Honda being from Japan would potentially give less trouble as it ages than a European car. Euro cars often have higher safety ratings, drive and handle smoother, but come with a downside of potential extra expense in maintenance costs. Bit of a catch 22 with this decision.
