Hi - My parents are coming in for a visit for 3 months and I am weighing in options whether to either

1. rent a 7 seater on weekends or
2. upgrade to a economical 7 seater car to accommodate them for trips and then later sell the car in 3 months.

My second question is what is the best place to get a pre-inspection for a vehicle I am about to buy and the costs related to it.

Third question - is there a restriction on owning more than 1 car at a time ?

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi there,
The AA has Appraised dealers which are a good place to start, and we have AA Pre Purchase inspections which are advised for any vehicle that passes your initial test drive and look over.
There are no penalties for owning two cars, just doubles the running expenses.
You won't know until you add up the costs of hiring a vehicle, including insurance premiums, and then offsetting this with the outlay and risk of buying a used 7-seater (which could potentially be older than what you would hire) and having it serviced ect and then licensing and insurance on top. There is also resale to think about and how much you stand to lose (if any) against the cost of hire/ lease.
A tough decision indeed.
