I have just bought a DEMIO 2009 1.3L import with the model number: DBA-DE3FS.
I can't find any evidence in the engine bay to indicate whether it has CVT or not.
However, the gear shift column has only two positions - 1 or 2.
Does this perhaps mean it is a CVT.
If so, how reliable is this transmission?
Thanks
Eric

Hi there,
Most of these imports are equipped with the CVT (one-speed) transmission, however my specs show that the 1.3 has a 4-speed conventional automatic and the 1.5 CVT.
Both types have been quite reliable in Mazda, we're not aware of any inerrant faults to warn about.
It is quite common to have the 1 and 2 with automatics and the CVT would typically have a D and L or similar.
If you are concerned, it may be best to see a transmission specialist to double check.

Many thanks Cade.

Will see my local Mazda dealer.
