Hi there,

I'm looking at selling my 1997 Toyota Starlet and upgrading to something a little more suitable to the size I need. It's done about 130000 kms and i've put a little bit of work into it including general things like new cambelt and fan 6 months ago, new front tyres, spark plugs and coils, and frequent servicing. I'm the car's second owner as far as I know. It does show it's age a little bit and would probably be an ideal first car for someone. I'm hoping to perhaps trade it in towards something like a 2007 Ractis or a 2005 Funcargo, although i've also been looking into a Vitz.

I'm wondering if trade-ins are worth it, what the starlet could be worth, and which of the above cars you would recommend? I don't know a lot about cars and would ideally like one that is economical, that is reliable and reasonably easy to fix issues, and that has enough boot space that I can use it a bit like a van sometimes but isn't massive in size because I can be a nervous driver when parking.

Hopefully this all makes enough sense to help,
Cheers.

Hi there,
The benefit of a trade-in is that they take the hassle out of having to wait for a vehicle to sell and go through the whole process.
However they do offer a very low amount for your car in return.
To get the best price for your car it is best to sell on trade me, this can take time and mean that people would want to test drive the car and maybe get it checked out.
The Fun Cargo is based on the Toyota Yaris and the Ractis is the new updated model of the fun cargo. They are good vehicles and not really known to give trouble.
