Hi there,
We are looking to buy a small car for around town in Auckland. It is primraily for our three teens who are learning to drive and want a small auto.
They are all very tall (the boys are 6 foot 2 and 6 foot 6), so we are looking for the most head and leg room we can find. We are wondering about the Honda Fit/Jazz, Suzuki Swift, or Toyota Yaris, but we are open to other suggestions. Shoudl we be considering something slightly bigger that has more space?
We are prepared to spend up to $10,000, and we are also concerned about safety ratings.
Thanks for your advice,
Kerry

Hi there,
You would be looking primarily for a car with the seat base height adjustable, so it can be lowered to allow for more head room.
European cars would be better to have this function and generally better safety features and higher safety ratings.
VW Golf, Audi A3/ A4 or other similar size Japanese car options like Toyota Corolla/ Auris or Mazda Axela/ 3 might also give food for thought.
The three cars you mentioned seem quite small and have marginal to low used car safety ratings.
