Hi,

I am looking at buying a station wagon under $10k (and completed under 60000km) and was looking at the Fielder or the Avensis (2008 ish) model but i am unsure about the CVT transmission, thoughts?

Any recommendations for other reputable station wagons in that price range?

Hi there,
Toyota have produced pretty reliable CVT transmissions that don't seem to give too much trouble. The Fielder is a great choice for a slightly smaller size and engine option, the Avensis looks good, but the ones with the 2.4ltr FSE engine can be an expensive problem if repairs are needed. They have common complaints about the intake system clogging up.
The Mark X ZIO 2.4 looks to have a different engine which would actually make it a better choice, but I am not as familiar with information on these vehicles.
The Mazda Atenza is a good choice but slightly above the price point.
