I'm planning to buy a caravan, weighing 1300kg maximum, with brake. I have Honday Odyssey with 2.3l engine, 2000 year model. Would this car powerful enough for the caravan? Or can you recommend a few cars to consider? Thanks.

According to my information the 2.3 litre Odyssey has a braked towing capacity of only 720kg. While the engine may be capable of towing such a load, one of their biggest weaknesses I suspect, would be the automatic transmission.

I have listed some possible alternatives with towing weights which will exceed your requirements but have stayed with petrol power and people mover/SUV type vehicles.

The list could be fairly endless if we throw in diesel and other body configurations.

Lets open this question up to others who currently tow similar loads and encourage any feedback.
