Hi ive got my eye on this model for $11,990, it says FAT transmission, and carjam says its CVT....72000kms

Or a 2010 Mazda Premacy 72000kms $10,995?? For me and my 3 kids, I want a long term reliable car with good handling and safety and economical on gas that i can run into the high 200,00kms with the least problems. Ive read cvt's aren't great but most cars have it now??? We are upgrading from a nissan pulsar 98 that has been really reliable and still going strong at 259,000kms.

Hi there,
The newer Toyota Wish has the CVT but we've not heard of any problems with them, the Premacy has a 5-speed A/T which will be good, Mazda has generally proven to be very reliable. For longevity without the risk of problems, it may be best to not buy a vehicle with a CVT if possible. My previous reply mentions the safety ratings, but it is always best to find a vehicle with most safety features as possible (airbags, ESC, EBD, traction control ect)
