Looking at a Nissan Wingroad 2006 or a Honda Airwave VTEC 2006. Do these models have CVT transmissions? Were the CVT issues still a problem by the time these models came out? Would you recommend or avoid? Can any potential problems be managed through servicing?

Hi there,
The Wingroad of this year has both types of transmissions listed, So I would be looking at a model with a conventional (non cvt) type transmission.
The Honda definitely has the CVT, and if they are the same as the Honda Fit of this era, I would also use caution and have it checked out before purchase.
Honda and Nissan transmissions have been mostly complained about before 2010 due to shuddering type issues. Honda transmissions are said to be mostly fixed with a fluid change or additive, but cvt's can be very expensive if more repairs are required.
