Hi. We are looking to purchase a new 4WD station wagon around the $5k-8k. We are looking at Subaru Outbacks and Foresters. We want something reliable, and wondered out of the two which would better and if there is another alternative? (we have always owned a Subaru).

My choice would be the 2.0ltr Forester out of the two, the 2.5 Outback in this price range is most likely to give problems (high chance of blowing a headgasket), and the 3.0ltr is bulletproof but not very economical.
