Daughter is looking to buy a 2000cc Nissan Wingroad Aero model year 2000 to 2003 as Jap import but has been advised by a mechanic to stay away from CVT transimissions.
Do you advise that these are unreliable and is the linear automatic ok?
Thankyou.

Apart from the very early pre 2000YM imports, Nissan have had a reasonably good run out of their CVT transmissions to date.
The transmission specialist I spoke to was reasonably positive about the CVT fitted to the Wingroad and certainly did not warn against them.
It would seem there are a number of different engine/transmission options with the used import Wingroads so there is no one clear preferred option.
If possible, you or your daughter need to drive a couple of different engine/trans comb’s and decide which one you prefer over the other.
