I am looking to purchase an Audi A4 wagon 2400cc (1999 - 118k) - just wondering about any known issues I should be looking for and costs of a cambelt change?
Is it advisable to change the water pump as well?

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve,
I've had the exact same car, make sure the transmission has been service and the filter replaced. They are known to give a few problems, mine would hold a gear a bit long and occasionally shift gears a little rough. Make sure that the heater core is connected (heater gets hot) and not leaking coolant/ antifreeze on the carpet inside the front of the car.
Good idea to get the water pump replaced at the same time as the technician is working in the same area for the cam belt. Prices will have to be obtained from a workshop though who has access to part prices and labour rates.
Since bought a 2003 1.8 Quattro sedan, which I wished was a wagon (Quattro is said to have the better transmission of this period)
