I've had a request for my bank account details for someone who wants to buy my car ( unseen) but they lack information about themselves and mention a 'Courier' to pick up the car.
What safety precautions do I need to do if I wish to go ahead with this?

I'm pleased I looked here tonight. I have had the same experience today and am not sure whether to proceed. Is this to be believed?

Hi there,
I recommend not giving out any details if you suspect some thing dodgy.
If the deal is a classified, you would expect someone to do their due diligence and actually come round and see the vehicle, check it out, and take it for a drive.
Most certainly don't hand the vehicle to anyone until you have the money in the bank or cash in the hand.

Thanks. I certainly won't be taking the offer to purchase any further. Disappointing to be targeted through the site.

Thanks. Yes definitely will make sure money is in the bank before car is available for pick up. Will also need id too for change of ownership? I'm beginning to see the benefits of using M V dealer, sadly - who can you trust?

The buyer is responsible for change of ownership, the seller just needs to go online and register with the NZTA do-it-online that they are no longer in possession of the vehicle(free and instant)
