VW EOS 2008 3.2 L has two 6 volt Absorbent Glass Mat batteries (vented) in luggage compartment. Could these be replaced with two 6 volt (vented) Flooded Cell batteries to save cost?

VW agent says the AGM batteries are necessary to be compatible with the cars charging system. They can supply them at $471.50 inc GST each.
