Have just bought a 2001 Hiace Regius van to use as a camper. Would it be safer with front bars fitted ( by Toyota so we get the right one)? I read that NZTA dont recommend them but what do you think? Thanks a lot

There are plusses and minuses with front bar fitment.
For your own safety, then the bars are a good idea. (just not good for padestrian safety)
Particulary as there is not much between you and the front of the car.
As long as the bar is approved and the front structure has not been changed.
