Hi there,
I'm considering on installing an additional LED Flood Light on the rear of the my car, wired to turn on at same time reverse lamps. Having a read on NZTA website, it says "A vehicle may have up to two reversing lamps" which seems odd, because I've seen many courier vans, AA battery van and roadside assist vans that have an LED Fog mounted on the back that turns on when in reverse, and the factory ones still illuminate (that is, the two factory reverse lamps, and the auxillary one light up on reverse). Is this OK for wof?
Cheers
Hi there, an extra lamp to the rear might be classed under cosmetic lamp heading as "work lamps" and don't require inspection for a wof.
NTZA information: https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/lighting/cosmetic-lamps
Work lamps
White or amber high-intensity lamps that are not necessary for the operation of the vehicle but are designed to illuminate the area around the vehicle or the vehicle itself
Scene lamps
Work lamps designed to provide a fixed or movable beam of light to illuminate the area around the vehicle or the vehicle itself.
But if the lights are used as reverse lamps then you must only have two in order to pass a wof.
