Hi, we have a 2011 Kia Sportage (2l) and we have just brought a 15ft (2.3m wide around 1978) Zephyr Caravan and we were wondering if it would be worth adding a towbar to our Kia?
We love the sportage as it is VERY ecommoical and nice to drive and would prefer not to have to upgrade to a bigger car.
We also have a 2003 Mazda 6 station wagon (2l) that has a tow bar so would this also be ok to tow with?

Hi there,
It depends on the weight of the load you will be towing.
The Sportage has a max braked tow limit of 1600kg, and un-braked limit of 750 which is pretty standard for most vehicles.
The Mazda tow rating is 1500kg braked.
A 2.0 engine should be able to tow these limits fairly well, as the weight gets higher the braking ability is compromised, which is why these limits are put in place.

Hi we sold the Mazda and we are now looking at a 2007 Suzuki Vitara 2.7l wjlax2 but we cannot work out what the towing weight is?
Would this be ok for towing a caravan?

Hi there,
Our specs are showing the 2007 Grand Vitara 2.7ltr as having a braked tow rating of 1,850kgs. I would think it would have plenty of power as long as the load was under this weight and has brakes.
