Free eye examinations announced for 879,000 New Zealand motorists
The Automobile Association and Specsavers have today announced a partnership that will provide 879,000 AA Members with a free eye examination every two years.
Dougal Swift, AA General Manager for Membership, says the AA is always looking for additional benefits for its Members.
“We hope this partnership with Specsavers encourages motorists to regularly check their vision. Our eyes are one of our greatest assets and we must look after them.”
Each eye examination will be performed by a qualified optometrist, takes about 30 minutes, and is valued at $60. There is no obligation on the AA Member to make any purchases in association with the eye examination.
“One driver in five is estimated to have a vision defect which may affect driving performance*, so the AA hopes these free eye examinations will help identify those motorists, improve their health and wellbeing, and thereby improve safety on our roads,” says Mr Swift.
Specsavers Managing Director Graeme Edmond said the initiative was at the heart of Specsavers’ values.
“Specsavers believes that everyone should be able to afford high quality, professional eye care. Optometrists recommend a regular eye examination every two years and today’s announcement makes that an affordable option for New Zealand’s motorists.
“Specsavers is New Zealand’s number one provider of professional eye care. We have 52 stores in locations across the country, making it easier than ever for AA Members to access professional eye care.”
“We’re very proud to be partnering with the AA to deliver even better value to Kiwis,” says Mr Edmond.
AA Members wanting to book a free eye examination should contact their local Specsavers to make an appointment. AA Members need to present their AA membership card on arrival.
