Extra road funding announcement great news for motorists
“The AA is delighted the government has listened to the concerns of the motorists, and decided to fully fund Transit New Zealand’s $685 million budget shortfall,” says AA Motoring Affairs Manager Mike Noon.
Mr Noon was commenting on assurances last night by Acting Finance Minister Trevor Mallard that the government would make up the funding shortfall, and an assurance this morning from Transport Minister David Parker that sufficient money would be provided by the government to fund roading construction as outlined in last year’s Transit New Zealand 10-Year State Highway Forecast.
“The government’s announcement means Transit New Zealand can now get on with the job of building our roads.”
“The additional money from the government is an investment that will have economic, social and environmental benefits for New Zealanders,” says Mr Noon.
