Holiday traffic will be building all day on Christmas Eve and will again be extra heavy on Boxing Day. The AA wants people to allow extra time for journeys and to be extra patient and courteous to other drivers.

AA supports Government’s focus on repeat and serious drink drivers
In a statement made over the weekend, Transport Minister Steven Joyce highlighted Ministry of Transport figures that show 72% of drink driving deaths in 2009 were caused by people who had either been caught drink driving before or were well over the current 0.08 blood alcohol limit.

The price of a litre of 91 octane petrol rose from $1.74 in the main centres to $1.85 by mid-October. The diesel price rose six cents from $1.19 – where it’s been since July – to $1.25 per litre.
